If you haven’t been to this exciting archery tournament then you owe it to yourself to put it in your travel plans for next year. Originally held in Atlantic City, the tournament was moved to Pittsburg in 2005 and has experienced growth ever since. The format is a 92cm face shot at 40/50/60 yards. At this event the 3-star tour also shoots for a Ford Mustang and a 4-wheeler for all the archers that shot all three of the 3-star tournaments and the marked distance 3-d event held at all the target venues. Top professional archer Lee Ford held on to the final two in the shootoff for the Mustang, shooting every arrow inside out without even missing the tiny ½” x-ring until he finally missed the final shot at 50yds with his 5575 Gold Tip Pro Hunter shafts. Great job Lee! Gold Tip Staff manager Tim Gillingham also had a great weekend with a repeat performance of the 2nd Leg with a dominating win in the marked 3-d and the 3-d Pop-up tournament set up at the venue. Those 30X Pro’s have made him a stack of cash this year. In the main event the top three after the first day were carbon arrows and two of the three were Gold Tip shooters Daryll Diehl and Tim Gillingham. Overall 1 st place finishes came from Randy Brabec in the Pro Fingers class, Steve Boylan in the Senior Freestyle, and Jeff Human in the Bowhunter Freestyle class. Gold Tip is coming on strong in the target archery world with five times more shooters shooting Gold Tip arrows this year over a couple years prior. Archers are finding there is no better arrow on the market for the money and they are able to compete at the highest levels with the same arrows the hunting public have come to love and trust.
